Tour Social Night: Wednesday July 23 at Clocktower
Le Tour de France moves on across the flat lands of France and our pick is in third place. Christian Vandevelde is just 36 seconds behind and if you recall he was our pick before the Tour began. Actually Valverde was our pick, but is almost the same isn't it? Maybe it is. We are getting together at The Clocktower on Wednesday July 23 to watch what could be the ultimate battle of the Tour this year, the climb to Alpe D'Huez. It promises to be an epic stage, made for drinking a frosty lager at Clocktower. ESV will buy the pizza, so we'll see you there for a bit of yarn and a good time. Convivial. Show starts at 5:00 but we will most likely stroll down there at 6:00.See you at The Clocktower.
Club Clothing Arrives!
Our order of the new club uniform is now at Footloose and if you can go down there on a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday or Saturday and see Shirley, she will be able to hand you your order, or sell you an item from stock. The clothing came out really well and early responses are very favorable from men and women alike. The quality is extremely high and the club passes items on to you at our actual cost. We had a slight price increase due to our shipping cost, but it’s not too much. Please bring a check made out to Eastside Velo or cash (no credit cards please). Shirley will also have some clothing at the Pie Ride this Sunday if you want to pick it up then.
Congratulations to the Tri Club!
What an excellent event last weekend at the June Lake Triathlon! Congratulations to Alana and Rita and the whole Tri club on a wonderful event. Thanks to all our ESV volunteers who helped out and contributed. Nice job team!
Markleeville Death Ride
Several members rode the Death Ride last weekend up at Markleeville. The event is 129 miles and five passes for 15,000' of climbing. Conditions were clear, with no smoke, and temperatures made it close to the 100 degree level before plunging to 50 degrees around 4:00 pm when thunder, lightning, hail and rain made the descent from Carson Pass hazardous and many riders were trapped and on the verge of hypothermia. Congratulations to Doug Howell, Steve Schmunk, Jeff Byberg, Dennis Phillips, Jim and Shawn Pettigrew, Tom Wallace, Jerry Oser, Michael Cohen and John Armstrong for giving it a go!
