ESV Mid-September Newsletter

High Sierra Fall Century Ride

Thank you to all the volunteers that worked on making the Fall Century Ride a huge success. Around 650 riders entered and without your help it could not have been accomplished. We had the benefit of a beautiful day and of a group of volunteers who went above and beyond. Our partners in the event benefit from a donation from Sierra Cycling Foundation, and include Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, Mono Lake Committee, Lee Vining Schools, Search and Rescue, Long Valley Fire Department and Mammoth Ski Education Foundation.

Club Clothing

Currently all the ESV bike clothing is at John and Lynette Armstrong’s house. If you want anything email them at jala@gte.net to see if they have your size. We have ordered more of most things and are getting larger sizes, since the clothing tends to run small.
Armstrongs live at 60 Grindelwald Rd. To pick up your clothing please email first to make sure they have what you need. Checks should be made out to Eastside Velo.
Some of the zippers on the windbreaker jackets have been very sticky and we have returned most of the jackets to have the zippers replaced. If you have a windbreaker jacket and the zipper is giving you problems, please send your jacket back to Louis Garneau with a letter stating the problem and your return address and they will replace your zipper. Make sure your jacket is washed before sending back.

Address for returns:
Louis Garneau USA Inc.
1352 East Main St./ Box 755
Newport, VT 05855 Attn: Suzi.

Road Repairs

It’s now almost impossible to ride in or out of town due to asphalt resurfacing, so be aware. Some riders on the Scenic Loop road mentioned that some of the trucks were using that road to go to 395 north and it was busy. 395 north and south also have areas of asphalt debris in the bike lane. Due to all the roadwork, the “around town” ride that we were going to do has been cancelled.

Keoughs Ride Oct 12th

Keoughs Ride and BBQ is still on for Oct 12. Meet at Keoughs at the far end of the parking lot at 9:30 to start riding at 10am. We usually ride out to Paradise Lodge and back for a 50 mile ride. RSVP to Sally Gaines at salg@qnet.com

Skadis Social Night Sept 23rd

Drinks at 6 pm and dinner around 7 pm at Skadis. Cost for dinner is around $15 (cash only please, no credit cards). RSVP to John & Lynette if you are coming (jala@gte.net). A great chance to get together and reminisce about the best summer in Mammoth for at least 10 years or in living memory, whichever seems to fit best. See you there.
