Eastside Velo is a bicycle club registered with United States Cycling Federation, a part of USA Cycling. The club is registered with the State of California as a not-for-profit association and is registered with the Internal Revenue Service in a similar status.
The club was first formed in 2001 with a nucleus of 20 riders, growing to over 200 members in the past season. Annual membership is only $35, and provides the member with entry to all of our supported rides. Non-members are certainly welcome to join our rides and may participate for a $15 day fee.
Throughout the riding season (April-October) the club organizes and supports many classic rides in the Eastern Sierra (see the Calendar of Events for specific information). The average ride attendance is between 30-60 riders per event. Supported rides feature feed stations every 25 miles (approximately), signage on the highway, mechanical repair equipment and often a rolling SAG vehicle available for rescue or repair. At the conclusion of many of the rides their will be a hosted lunch, or alternatively riders will meet at popular dining venues. ESV members range in abilities from novice to expert, and most of the supported rides are "out and back", so the distance traveled can be up to the individual rider.
Our signature ride of the year is the Pamper Pedal, an event designed specifically for women, supported by the men of Eastside Velo. The 2013 Pamper Pedal was held on May 11, with 125 ladies participating! The annaul event features a 40 mile ride, descending 4,000’ from Mammoth Lakes to the Elks Park in the Bishop area.
The High Sierra Fall Century
Eastside Velo is the USCF club of record for the Sierra Fall Century Ride in early September. The club provides significant volunteer support an labor for the event which draws some 700-800 riders to the Eastern High Sierra for a 100 mile ride with only one stop sign. New for 2013 is a "Gran Fondo" format with chipped timing.
If you would like to receive occasional updates from the club, register your e-mail on the home page under "Join our Newsletter".
